Why strive for this national standard?

The CommunityMark recognises companies who are the best investors in their communities. These companies recognise that good corporate community investments bring long-term sustainable benefits to both business and communities.

Community benefits:

The 21 companies achieving the CommunityMark standard, have in the first year invested almost £600 million in a vast range of community projects and initiatives. These programmes have provided over 30,000 schools with company support, two thousand people with CommunityMark company mentors and one thousand people with work experience placements as well as many other community benefits across the UK.

Business benefits:

Community investment is a 'win-win'. It is an opportunity for business to achieve competitive advantage by understanding that a 'win' for community also means a 'win' for business.

Companies achieving the high standards of community investment recognised by the CommunityMark standard gain wide-ranging benefits, including:

  • Improved colleague and customer loyalty
  • Cost savings from improved recruitment and retention
  • Better working relationships with suppliers
  • Wider influence in the marketplace
  • Enhanced corporate reputation among peers, media, government and other stakeholders in the wider community
  • Recognition from an independent third party validating that they are the best investors in the community.
