Northumbrian Water wins North East Responsible Business of the Year Award
Water company Northumbrian Water has been named ‘North East Responsible Business of the Year’.
The award, which is based on the company’s performance in the annual Corporate Responsibility Index, was announced to an audience of 250 business people from across the region at the 2007 North East Awards for Excellence Dinner in Newcastle’s Civic Centre on Thursday 28th June.
The award was sponsored by regional development agency One NorthEast and Royal Mail.
BITC’s Regional Director, Karen Wilkinson-Bell, commented: “This award recognises all- round excellence in responsible business practice, and as a company that has long blazed a trail for the responsible business movement in the region, we are delighted that it has gone to Northumbrian Water”.
This year, the company achieved the very highest rating in the CR Index for its community activities, which range from an award-winning employee volunteering programme to a major programme of support for schools across the North East.
