Yorkshire and Humber companies rewarded for responsible business
Twelve companies in Yorkshire and Humber will be awarded with Big Ticks at Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence 2007 celebration event for their outstanding achievement and commitment to responsible business practice.

Yorkshire Water is a receiver of the Impact on Society Award and the BUPA Healthy Communities Award as well as being re-accredited in the Eco-efficiency category. It has also been shortlisted to become a National Example of Excellence.
Now in their 10th year, the Awards for Excellence reward companies across the UK with a coveted 'Big Tick' for the positive impact their responsible business activities have in the marketplace, the workplace, the environment or in the community.
One of the most renowned companies in the area has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising its efforts in the local community.
Bradford & Bingley has been awarded a Big Tick in the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence 2007 and has been shortlisted for a national award to be announced by HRH The Prince of Wales and former US Vice President Al Gore at a Gala Dinner in central London on July 2. Bradford & Bingley will be presented with their Big Tick at a black tie dinner at The Royal Armouries, Leeds on 21 June. Special guest Charlie Hardwick of Emmerdale will be on stage to present the Awards.
In Yorkshire and Humber a total of 17 Big Ticks have been awarded this year. Companies include Yorkshire Water, Bradford & Bingley, Centrica/British Gas, RWE npower, InterfaceFLOR, Leeds Ahead Ltd, Keepmoat, Kier Sheffield, Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Meadowhall , Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate and Marshalls plc.
Plus four Health, Work and Well Being Awards will be presented to Bradford & Bingley, Provident Insurance, CPP and Smith & Nephew in recognition of their good practice in the different aspects that contribute to health, work and well-being.

The Awards for Excellence 2007 are sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry, official media are the Financial Times and Haymarket and the National Gala Dinner is sponsored by Marks & Spencer, Company of the Year 2006. The Awards are independently assured by Arthur D Little.
